mvoosten:
Om wat onduidelijkheden weg te nemen in relatie tot Talisker - WindowsCE3.0 en PDA's hier een stukje uit www.pocketpcthoughts.com:

THOUGHT: Let's clear up this Talisker thing - There's a lot of chatter about Talisker, and a lot of poor assumptions being made about how this relates to the Pocket PC, so I wanted to clear this up for everyone.

Talisker is the code-name for Windows CE 4.0. It's the core OS, containing the API's (hooks) and hardware/software support for the huge variety of things that Windows CE is and does. There's been mention of Bluetooth support, instant messaging, SOAP support, Internet Explorer 5.5, Universal Plug and Play, skinable UI, "Media Sense" for discovering network connections, Microsoft Passport support, and other .Net technologies. Now what are the odds that every device will support every feature? Zero.

The Pocket PC team takes the core OS, the adds on their own apps, graphical user interface (the Pocket PC GUI is radically different than the HPC 2000 GUI), and tweaks it for PDA-style use (button controls, hardware, etc.). So while Talisker sounds exciting, there's no guarantee that the features listed will be in the next version of the Pocket PC.

There's a good Microsoft FAQ here that explains the difference between Windows CE 3.0 and the Pocket PC. The same info applies in this scenario - just change all the 3.0's to 4.0's.

Rest assured though, that the Pocket PC wants to bring you the good stuff, so they probably have something up their sleeve. ;-)
